Hen House Mosaic Studio
Almost 10 years ago, my Mom became interested in mosaics… and it’s been a dream of hers to open a mosaic studio ever since. It was one of those “maybe someday, in the back of your mind” kind of dreams. And last week, I am proud to say, it came true. It’s been a year long process of flipping part of the barn into a studio space – but it happened and it was awesome.

I spent the entire day Friday at the studio helping with cleaning, styling and class prep. I made a color wheel to hang on the wall, and a (very simple) macrame plant hanger. It was so much fun seeing all of the ladies come in to class that night, pick out their plates/tiles and create their designs.

I even clipped a little bird of mine to the curtain hook. So cute!

I’d never made a mosaic before, so even though I consider myself pretty artsy, I was actually really nervous to make my mirror. I based my colors off of an orange and green plate that I really liked. The ‘Intro to Mosaics’ class was really enjoyable – and I’d recommend it to anyone interested in learning a little bit about the process. Plus, you’ll get a really cool mirror (or other project) out of it.
